Why HandNorth · 01
One all-in number: work plus Quebec tax
The figure you compare on HandNorth is the visit: labour plus Quebec tax. It is not an hourly clock in the room, and it is not a fee stacked at checkout after you hire.

What is an all-in HandNorth quote in Quebec?
An all-in number on HandNorth is the visit you compare: labour plus Quebec GST and QST at 14.975%, written before anyone arrives. Compact cards sometimes say “Quebec HST” as a short label for that combined rate — remittance is still GST and QST, not a federal HST province. Homeowners do not pay a platform cut on that total. If the job grows, the pro sends a change order. The total moves only when you Accept. Find a pro cards, live Work quotes, and furniture or TV packages follow the same rule. A booking request today does not take a card. Stripe card pay and escrow are on the way. A person at hello@handnorth.com can hold a deposit by hand. Cash off-platform is not how we work. A visit that holds a calendar is live in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, Brossard and Terrebonne. Other listed cities can search Find; we will not invent a tax-included visit price there yet.

What does all-in mean on HandNorth?
All-in is the number on the quote you hire against. It covers the visit described in that quote, plus tax calculated for Quebec. It is the figure on Find a pro cards, on a live Work quote, and on a furniture or TV package.
It is not a teaser. We will not show $49 on the card and add a service fee, a booking fee or a “cash discount” after you pick a pro. Extra pieces, a second trip or work behind the wall is a change order — a new line you Accept or refuse.
- Labour for the visit written on the quote
- Quebec GST + QST at 14.975% on that labour
- No homeowner commission inside the job
- Change order if the scope grows — you Accept
How Quebec tax sits on the quote
Public prices on HandNorth include Quebec tax when the job is in a live Quebec city. The combined GST and QST rate we print is 14.975%. We say “Quebec HST” on some cards as a short label for that combined rate — the remittance is still GST and QST, not a separate federal HST region.
| On the quote | What it is |
|---|---|
| Labour | The visit the pro wrote |
| Tax | 14.975% GST + QST in live Quebec cities |
| Platform cut on the job | None. Pros pay for access, not a slice of the cabinet |
| Card today | Not taken. Stripe checkout is on the way |
What happens when the job is bigger than the quote?
The pro does not add hours on a clock you never saw. They write a change order: the extra work, the extra amount, tax included. You Accept in the thread. Until you Accept, the original all-in number still stands.
If you refuse the change order, the visit stays on the original scope. Disputes go to a person: acknowledgement in one business day, a written decision in seven. There is no chatbot.
Card pay, deposits and cash
Stripe card pay and Stripe escrow are on the way. We will not print “Paid”, “In escrow” or “payment released” until that rail is live. A booking request does not charge a card today.
A person at hello@handnorth.com can hold a deposit by hand until Stripe ships. Cash off-platform is not how HandNorth works.
How to compare two all-in quotes
Give both professionals the same visit: the same rooms, the same pieces, the same photos, the same note about stairs, parking or an elevator. Then compare the all-in number. A cheaper quote that leaves the TV mount “to confirm on site” is not cheaper — it is unfinished. Ask that pro to rewrite the visit before you hire.
A catalog “from” price is a floor for that package in a live Quebec city, tax in. It is still not a live calendar — Find a pro cards say Request a visit. A live Work quote is written on your job. Both should show work plus tax. If a number arrives without tax, ask for an all-in rewrite.
What the all-in number does not swallow by itself
If the pro needs extra parts, they write a change order in the thread. You Accept. Until then the original all-in number stands. Tips are optional and off the quote — they are not a hidden HandNorth fee. See 0% on the completed job.
- Materials the quote did not list
- A second trip you did not Accept
- Work behind the wall the visit did not describe
- A platform commission — there is none on the job
Greater Montreal: the same tax rule in five cities
Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, Brossard and Terrebonne all sit in Quebec. Public all-in prices on HandNorth include GST and QST at 14.975% for jobs in those cities. Compact cards sometimes say “Quebec HST” as a short label for that combined rate. Remittance is still GST and QST, not a separate federal HST region. Other listed Canadian and U.S. cities can search Find a pro. We will not invent a tax-included visit price for a city where a booked visit is not live. The list is on five live cities.
Post a project or Find a pro to start. Stripe card pay is on the way: a booking request does not take a card today. A person at hello@handnorth.com can hold a deposit by hand. Cash off-platform is not how we work.
