An all-in price on HandNorth is one number: labour, the agreed visit and tax. In Quebec that tax is GST+QST at 14.975%. Pros pay a subscription; there is no commission on the job. We do not add a second platform charge at checkout, and we do not publish a fake “2026 average renovation cost” for Canada or the United States.
1 What sits inside the number
- The work the quote describes
- Tax for the job’s province or, later, the U.S. jurisdiction we open
- No commission on the work — Pros pay a subscription
- Materials only when the quote says they are included
If materials need a site visit, the quote should say so. “Plus materials later” with no writing is not all-in. Read pricing and the payments tab in Help.
2 Canada first, United States next
Today the live tax line is Quebec GST+QST at 14.975% on Montreal-area jobs. Compact cards sometimes say “Quebec HST” as a short label for that combined rate. When we open another Canadian province we will use that province’s rate. When we open a U.S. city we will use the sales tax that city actually charges — we will not invent a U.S. average.
3 How you pay
The plan is a 30% deposit, 40% at a milestone, 30% at the end. Stripe card checkout is on the way — send a booking request today and write hello@handnorth.com to hold a deposit by hand. Cash off-platform is not how we work.
